Your Neighborhood Produce was founded by Christina Nelson of York County, South Carolina. Having recently moved from the West Coast to the Carolinas, Christina was looking for a produce group similar to one that she had participated in at her previous residence. When she realized there was nothing like that here in the Carolinas, she decided to use her previous experience and knowledge to begin her own company.
"As a mom of four children, I had grown tired of spending an incredible amount of money on produce, and couldn't justify the ridiculous prices of produce any longer. I knew there had to be a more affordable way of providing fresh quality produce to my family, so instead of complaining about the situation, I created a solution and opened Your Neighborhood Produce in June, 2008 with only 18 members. Now just over a year later, I am pleased to say that Your Neighborhood Produce serves over 2,000 members," says Christina.
Christina and her team at Your Neighborhood Produce plan expansion to additional pick-up locations in the Carolinas this year and beyond.
Your Neighborhood Produce has a strong commitment to giving back to our community, and last year assisted in generously donating many baskets of food to needy families.
